Towers in the Sky | GE World Tower in Nanjing – StrongLED Project Case Study

GE World Tower in Nanjing, which is located at the intersection of Hexi Yunjin Rd and Jiangdong Middle Rd, Jianye District, Nanjing, is the world`s highest three-tower building and Asia`s largest comprehensive lifestyle center. GE World Tower in Nanjing is expected to be built as a commercial landmark in East China and even the whole country.

Ancient City Star works

PART 1

GE World Tower in Nanjing is composed of three super high-rise towers with podiums. A 20,000-square-meter aerial corridor from floor 44 to 48 strings the three towers, which are also connected through a podium garden. The towers seem separated but actually connected as a composite complex.

Towers in the sky

PART 2

The sky platform is located on floors 43 to 48 of the building. It is the world`s highest asymmetric steel platform connecting three towers and the first platform with a weight of 2800 tons hoisted to a height of 190 meters.

Due to the asymmetric structure of the three-tower building, a large amount of structural steel members were customized to guarantee stability during the hoist operation. The assembly of these steel members cost two and a half months. Professional works completed the welding of each joining section in a limited space at a height of 200 meters in the air.

Brilliance of three towers

PART3

The designer endeavored to achieve a simple and elegant lighting style for this unique super high-rise building. StrongLED chose linear lights to sketch the building outline.

Almost 70,000 linear lights are used to decorate the three towers. The 386-meter-tall building rises up into the air, illuminating the capital of six dynasties at night with its unique and exciting aesthetics in architecture.

Soaring into the night sky, the magnificent and brilliant GE World Tower is admired by Nanjing residents as Tower in the Sky and Cosmos WiFi.
